Just another day in the yard

Maddi just like all 3 of her brothers, loves the outdoors. It gives don and I much needed exercise. That girl is all over the place and keeping up with her is a chore. Getting her to go back inside is dang near impossible! Hey lookie, it's our neighbors,The Parkers. How fun is this neighborhood they showed up with a trailer, HAYRIDE just for the fun of it?

Meanwhile Hunter and Hayden are getting ready to do some damage at the pond.

What's this, is little Maddi upset?

No, she just wants to do her own fishing!!!!

I bet she said "bubba" 500 times. She wanted so bad to get her hands into that tackle box.

She waited patiently.....

and displayed some great signs of self control!!!! Look at her face. Can you see just how bad she wants it?

Watch it Maddi, bubba will get you!!!!!

No, she's not in the box, she's just admiring the top!!!!

Ahhhh success!!!! She got something out without anyone seeing!

I'm sorry about our crazy day. No one take offense PLEASE!!!! The websites were shut down to everybody, we didn't single out anyone in particular. As most of you know our lives have been public for quite sometime now and you guys are the ones who have gotten us through some of our toughest times. However there are those who feel the need to chime in on things and not in a good way. Protecting our families as you all know is our top priority and that is what is going on right now. Please just bear with us until we get it all sorted out.
Thanks so much for standing by us through all our ups and downs,
Staci

I know it makes many smile to see your sweet chillen'! Your story and Jake's story is what brought all of us together in the first place. One sweet soul teaching us all how to live a better life. Although hurt, we will all bounce back....and better than before! Thanks for posting Staci.

I have followed Jake's story for the last few years. What an amazing boy he must have been! I have also been reading Mo's blog since she started it. I was so glad to see that you started your own blog about your sweet family as well. It makes me wish I lived in LA. because your family and Mo's seem like they would be so much fun to spend time with. I have been worried today when I tried to log onto Mo's your blogs and they were both blocked. I enjoy both of your blogs so much and was sad to think that I wouldn't be able to read them any more. I was delighted to be able to read yours this evening. Is Mo's blog going to stay private?

I love the pictures of the kids. You can tell how much Maddi's brothers love her. Your property is absolutely beautiful......so serene. I hope you all enjoy it for many years to come.
I understand that the bottom line is always to protect one's family. ALWAYS.It's just that so many (myself included) will miss you all if you have to isolate yourselves. It's sad that some find it necessary to ruin it for the good people. I think I comment on Mo's site daily! Have for a long time and was thrilled that you started blogging.I was so surprised by not getting onto both of your sites this morning but eventually yours opened up to me this evening. My heart smiled.Love and peace to each of you.(I read blogs&comment but don't have one of my own...but maybe you can "approve" comments before they are posted? Just a thought. Good night sweet family!

God bless you all......and I LOVE the pix from today. Just a day outside with the kids enjoying all of God's creation.....priceless:) God Bless you Staci........Dena

Staci,
I started folling Jake's site when my grandson was born with HLHS. You know it is just a comfort to read all the care pages and caringbridge sites. One site leads you to another. I fell in love with your brave little guy and your enter family. Then when Mo started blogging I followed and then followed yours.
Mo was the first and only message I had for ever. Hope things get back to normal soon. Wishing you both the best.

What a shame that some people have to ruin it for everybody! I too have been following your family's story since 2005 with Jake's precious Caringbridge site, I found you all through Matt Warren and Brent Nason. Not only did Jake capture my heart in a way I could never describe but I can relate to you and Mel in so many ways. I am from Brandon, Mississippi, (two hours across the river from Monroe) my sister and I are very close and live next door to each other and we love each others kids as if they are our own. We do everything together, some people think it is kinda weird... but to us it is normal! I just wanted you to know that I LOVE the good ole' southern family fun that you guys share with us. The Jake Raborn Foundation even helped out Corbin Adams, which was my son's best friend, unfortunately he earned his angel wings last year. God puts people in our life for a reason... even if it is over the internet. Your families have been a blessing to me and I look forward to reading your blogs every morning. I sent this as a word of encouragement to both you and Mel, I have laughed, cried and prayed right there with you guys for over 3 years and I hope I can continue.

Thanks for sharing with us!!

So relieved to be able to read your blog again and hope that Mel will open hers again. I came to Jake's story through Emma Grace several years ago (I don't even remember how many). Unfortunately, I have been a silent follower (even through Mel calling us all out). Didn't ever feel like I could put into words the proper encouragement for you. But, unfortunately, I am a little on the quiet and shy side. You can ask Trish, whom I have known for oh, about a million years. Well, I think since she was probably a teenager, which is probably close to the same thing. I have told stories of your families over and over. I guess I don't want to believe there are so many crazy people out there, but unfortunately you know that there are. I love to read your stories and hope that we can continue to do so. You have a wonderful family that I admire and respect.

Your home and the area around it are beautiful. I can't believe Maddi is able to go barefoot. I can't wait to see photos of everything once it has greened up again. We had some pretty weather last week, but back to the twenties and thirties now. We even had an inch or so of snow last night. Good thing our daffodils and all the other spring flowers are showing their little heads alreadyso we have something to look forward to here in WV.

I am so sorry to hear someone said something to upset your families. I have followed your family since your precious Jake was in the hospital. I swithced to Mo's blog when she started it. I have gotten hooked on it. It saddens me to know I will not be able to check in on the girls every day like I have been. Staci I was thrilled when you started your blog.I check yours every day also. Actualy I met you at the Shake For Jake this past year and talked to you about your blog. I loved the look on Maddi's face when she pulled something out of the tacklebox. Your boys have grown up so much since I have been checking in on your family. I am so glad your blog is still available for viewing. I have never made any comments until today on anyones blog. I just enjoy reading about your families and looking at all the pictures. You know you all are just like family to me even though I have never signed in on any of your sites to comment before. I told Pawpaw Raborn a while back that I felt like I was stalking your family because I feel so close but I've only commented on the caringbridge site a handful of times. Staci, I think your entire family is AMAZING! That sweet sweet little angel of yours really grabbed hold of a lot of hearts and changed many people for the better. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of and pray for each and every one of you. My favorite thing about Jake's family is how anyone can see the LOVE that your family has for one another. I love hearing Jake stories, and to be able to see Ellie, Maddie and Gabby grow up in such a terrific family is something that I am grateful for. (Hunter and Hayden too!) Please know that I will never stop believing! Mo -take care of those sweet girly girls and do whatcha gotta do, but know that you will be missed greatly.

I am so sorry that someone felt the need to leave mean spirited comments or hurtful comments. I look forward to checking my list of blogs everyday - and you and Mel are on that list! I was so disappointed when I couldn't get my daily fix!! I hope everything works out for both of you.

Your pond is absolutely stunning. My hubby would be very envious. I bet those boys can burn up some hours trying to reel them in. And poor Maddi- all she wanted was a couple of baits. Come on bubba, just one!

Same here! I hope whatever mean spirit is causing heartache will go away! You have so many followers who LOVE your family. Your entire family (Mo I'm refering to you too!) is such an inspiration. You have taught me to grieve the loss of my mother with such grace and I can't thank you enough. Please don't go private for a stupid jerk...but if you do, I would love to be invited to peek in your daily lives. Always a believer.

I'm sorry that someone has to prove the old adage that "one rotten apple spoils the bunch" as I have been blessed by first sweet Jake and now these precious girls. Thanks for opening it up long enough to let us know y'all are okay--please tell Mo how much we appreciate her, too!

I too love coming to your website daily! I have followed both yours and Mo's blogs since the beginning and have been a Jake caringbridge "Believer" for years! I have been extremely bummed that I can't get onto Mo's blog anymore! Thank you for continuing to share your family story. It is so uplifting! Your family is wonderful!

Let me in on the bench holding those who love you guys. I met you on a street corner in Memphis during the St. Jude's run several years ago. I was with Trish.

I have been praying for you all for years, and have just this minute gotten up the nerve to sign your book. I have been signing Mo's blog. I don't like hearing that there are hurtful things going on in your family's life. I do hope and pray things get better soonest!

Oh, and those children are just the best!

Anyone who follows the websites, knows what happened. Melanie received very negative feedback on the video she posted. That video was very offensive to many, some would even suggest abuse. There was no explaining it away; Melanie is a PT and she knows how "pliable" a babies neck is??? Just think about that statement alone! Perhaps this is the way babies get treated in the South...although I could never imagine you Staci, letting that happen to one of your babies. Yes, many people found it funny, or so they say. Some people will say anything, to make them feel connected, part of the inner circle. I did not post on that video. I felt sick to my stomach after watching it though and really tried to forgive the lack of good judgement. The sad part is, Gabbi looks like she is more than used to that kind of treatment and knows that all her mom is going to do is laugh and try to keep it going. Perhaps it is best that Melanie keep her site private, then only like-minded people would view and post. The whole thing is a shame.

Nana's Joy said...

I have no idea who Tracey is, but it is pretty clear that she has not been a follower for long. If so she would know the love Mo has for her family.
Tracey, you should keep your thoughts to yourself and quit trying to make a mountin out of a moe hill. You should be able to tell from the other comments you are standing alone. If you can't say anything nice move on and don't say anything at all. Yes, the whole thing is a shame and the Shame should be on you. The abuse I see has come from words not video.
Sorry, Staci and Mel I got so upset I had to say my peace. Please don't let Tracey's comment keep you from letting us all share your loving families. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

I have been reading Jake's website/Mo's blog and now yours for some time, although I am a very infrequent commenter! While I have no understanding of what you and your family went through with Jake, reading websites like yours and many others has given me an understanding of what you need from me, and I appreciate that. It must be difficult to open yourself up to others yet needing to do that very thing.

I appreciate your blog, your children and home are beautiful. And if you get the chance, tell your sister I miss her site!

Kecia said...

I've never posted before but read your and Mo's blogs daily. I feel like I know you guys. I also followed Jake's story...what an amazing boy...and prayed for him daily. I was concerned when I couldn't get into either blog yesterday and so excited to get into yours today. I'm sorry for whatever happened and hope everything is ok. I don't have a blog but hope to be able to continue sharing in your life. You both have beautiful children! I just love your families! I have 3 boys myself and totally understand the need to protect your family so whatever you have to do, you have to do. Tell Mo I miss her :-)

I just read what Tracey posted before I did...now I understand. If you don't like it Tracey (and who ever else) move on. No one makes you read/watch the blog. What a SHAME that YOU have to upset such a wonderful and loving family. Mo and Staci are great moms and would never do anything to harm their children.

tricia said...

I had to comment because of Tracey's remark.

The accusations tha she asserts are irresponsible and discrimminating. Just listen to yourself Tracey. If you followed this family's websites for any length of time you'd KNOW that they would NEVER be part of any abuse of anyone or anything. Because Mo put a video up of what happens in a million homes across the world daily ,you rip her apart? She has a toddler with an infant. They are going to "want to take care of the baby". Did Ellie pick up the baby and drop her? NO Do you think Mo would allow that? NO. My God....she rolled the baby. That's exactly what therapists do to encourage infants to roll.Mel was supervising Ellie. So she laughed. She laughed at Ellie following in her footsteps...watching her mother work with her infant. You turned it into something it was not! Shame on you!Did you even know that? I think you need to go back into your glass house!

Sorry that you had "issues" that necessitated closing the blogs and HAPPY that this one is available again. I've been a follower since the beginning of Jake's Caringbridge site (but, yeah, a lurker). And will try to patiently wait for Mo to open her blog again. Thanks for sharing a piece of your life with us. Elaine

Wow poor Tracey. You must be a truly UNHAPPY person. How dare you to think Mo would abuse one of her children. Do you think someone that wanted a child so much she adopted a baby would really do something to harm them??? This is a great family that you are putting your negativity on. They have been through so much if anything you should be encouraging and uplifting them. If you cant read their blogs and be encouraged then you should move on.

Mo and Staci praying for healing of the hurt you have suffered through this.

Staci and Mo, thank you for sharing your families with us. I understand your need to protect them. If you go private, I will miss you dearly.

Staci, I'm so glad you're blogs is still up and I'm really missing Melanie's - I check both of them everyday. Sorry for whatever happened the other day but I know you both need to do what you feel necessary to keep your families "safe". I can't believe how big your boys are - I have 2 about the same ages (12 and 14) and I can't believe how fast they grow (not to mention how much they eat). Maddie is just a little doll and I'm sure she has all the men in the family totally wrapped around her tiny little finger. I followed Jake's story for a very long time - and want to thank you for continuing to share your family with us.

Can you just block Tracey and the others who have insert their opinions on the welfare of your family? Seriously, MO is a PT by profession. Gabbi was absolutely fine and came away with her awesome smile. The audacity that some people have such accusations are completely uninformed. To the Raborn and Massey-Groves families, you are so incredibly loved by far more than the Tracey's of the world. To the viewers that don't like or are offended by what you see...don't visit their blogs. As the saying goes people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. I'm sure how you handle your life may offend others too.

I think you both have more people standing behind you than against you. Melanie we love you and staci and hope you can come back to the blogging world soon. We miss you very much. We are not trying to be in any "inner circle" we were brought together thru a very touching family

It was so nice to be able to read your blog again. I love following your family and Mo's too. I've missed reading about you all.

Before Mel's blog was blocked I read the mean comments. They made my blood boil. Please let Mel know that I think she is an awesome Mom, and that her readers know that her girlies are tremendously loved.

My goodness look at the comment response here! 99.9% kind and warm thoughts!

I am a "lurker" from way back - from the earliest days of Jake's fight and I have never posted - until now. At the moment I'm feeling a bit like I'm back in grade school and some dumb kid has acted up & we all have to miss recess as a result - you know the 'one bad apple’ thing.

In this world so full of negativity, worry and bad news, I so looked forward to reading about the Groves & the Raborns & sharing their obvious joy in - and love for - their families and friends. I follow numerous blogs and I always find yours and Mo’s a respite - lighthearted, down to earth and REAL. Mo's was truly unique and a departure from some of the otherwise condescending rants and self-absorbed postings out there in our blogging community. (Smocking/Bow hating ‘Tweets’: how catty - you know who you are…)

I hope you will be back up soon Mo but if not we certainly understand. Life is just too short...

Q's NEWS said...

I am totally freaking out - what in the world has happened? I have been away from my "blog world" for about a week and settle in to catch up on my faves - I can read between the lines and see that somebody has said some horrible things and made some ridiculous accusations - seriously! Do you really think that someone who is abusing their child would post the evidence on the internet? I DON'T THINK SO! And to say that maybe it is better for Mo's Blog to stay private is ridiculous - if you don't like it then don't "tune in"! There is more love in Mo & Staci's family than in the whole state of Louisiana! Leave them alone!

Well, there is an idiot that surfaces from time to time and they had to pick two of the most compassionate families I know. I, too..am a follower of you and MO, a silent one for the most part. We had to move 4 hours away from our kids and grandkids due to work and I get my daily fix through you and Mo. Now I feel like I have lost those as well due to an IDIOT. I completely understand why MO shut down and I am praying she will be able to open it back up soon. I will continue to enjoy your posts and join those that "have your backs". I was raised in Bernice, know some of the same people you and Mo do, MF Copeland, Phyllis Mayo, Leslie Leath, and gobs more..so I hope I prove worthy to be added back to MO's site. I am grieving...

Staci, you have a nice house, but more importantly, you have a real HOME, with a great partner and soulmate and wonderful children. You are blessed and to say I miss Jake is an understatement.

Hang tough!

Hi! I am glad that you have started to post regularly. I think I met you once (I used to work at St. Jude) when Ms. Terri was your nurse. I love to see the pictures, hear about how your family and how all of you are doing, and to see all of the cute outfits you dress those girls in! I've set her an email hoping to be added, but I understand if she's a little cautious. Not sure what happened, but it sounds like there was a jerk out there and no on should hurt either of you after everything you have been through and everything you do for your communities! Keeping you in my prayers and hanging around admiring! Take care!!
